hardware problem? error code 931.5GB

Hi,

A dell 8700 with a windows 7 operating system
the error code is 931.5GB and I have it on this screen "Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology - Option ROM - 10.0.0.1046 Copyright (C) 2003-10 Intel Corporation.
Main Menu
and i have five options here
I have NO IDEA what i am doing or should do can anyone help
At least to tell me if this is a hardware or software problem?

Please help.

Hi John,

I'm not an authority on the issue you're referencing at all, but what you're describing sounds like your PC is booting directly to the RAID Controller setup because it no longer recognizes the RAID configuration or one (or both) of your hard drives have failed.  If you were using a RAID configuration without parity and had a drive failure, then you would need to replace the hard drive (or drives) and recover from a backup.   If you don't have a backup, then sending the drives to a data recovery company is an option, but it's very expensive and not all data is recoverable.  If you were using a RAID configuration WITH parity (like RAID1 mirroring) and had one drive fail, you can replace the drive and recover - I'd recommend calling Dell support for assistance in that case if you're not familiar with the process.  Good Luck.
