Nintedanib 150mg medication guide

Nintedanib is a kinase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), Systemic Sclerosis-Associated Interstitial Lung Disease and Chronic Fibrosing Interstitial Lung Diseases with a Progressive Phenotype. 

Treatment with this medicine must be initiated and supervised by the physicians experienced in the diagnosis as well as treatment of such conditions for which nintedanib is indicated.

Nintedanib 150 mg may be responsible for causing fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. Females of childbearing potential are advised to avoid conceiving a child while on the treatment with nintedanib, use adequate contraception during the treatment and for at least 90 days after nintedanib's last dose. 

Liver function tests must be performed prior to treatment and periodically thereafter. Your healthcare provider must be aware if you are a kind of smoker. You must stop the smoking before taking this medication and avoid smoking during the treatment. 

The recommended daily dose is nintedanib 150 mg twice daily approximately 12 hours apart consumed with the food. In case of drug overdose, treatment must be interrupted and general supportive measures should be initiated as appropriate.

Liver tests should be promptly conducted in those patients who report signs and symptoms that may represent liver injury, including fatigue, jaundice, anorexia, right upper abdominal discomfort or dark urine

The nintedanib should be stored at room temperature between 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C). Keep this drug dry and protect it from high heat.

Nintedanib is an expensive specialty medication. For one strip of 10 capsules (strength of 150 mg) the nintedanib price is around ₹22087.25.
